I recently bought the Seestar S50 and as a seasoned astrophotographer wanted to use an EQ Wedge and dew filter. Online there were many suppliers of the latter but nearly all were asking 20-30€ postage, which I felt was too much. I stumbled across Oak Astro and was impressed by their continued development and fair prices. Also the equipment seemed very good quality. I had occasion on a number of times to communicate directly with Rob, who replied very quickly ( even on a Sunday ) ,and was very helpful. By pure bad luck, my order went missing and Rob tracked it down in less than an hour, the post office sent it to America instead of Austria. He immediately organised a replacement which arrived 3 days later. Despite Brexit problems, Rob has found a reliable way to send stuff to europe, it arrived at my door without me having to do anything other than pay the VAT due in Austria.
I was very happy with the quality, it was better than I had expected. I have tried most of the party out and they sork as expected. The only thing that could be better, would be if Oak Astro produced more similar products for astronomers and photographers, I would highly recommend them.
This is exactly what I expected and I am happy with it. Once the weather clears reliably I'll try it out - I'm mostly interested in the dew shield and filter holder.
A little pricey for what is 3D printed plastic bits…. But you’re paying for the R&D on a very niche product.
It does the job its designed to do excellently.
Just needs Dwarf 3 to add a setting that allows the user to tell it there is a dew shield on it, so it doesnt try to rotate the apertures towards the body of the D3 while there is attachments on.
